David Robertson, expert appraiser, guest speaker at LBCREC’s First Friday Breakfast  

LONG BEACH—September 19, 2008 – David Robertson, MAI, president of Robertson & Associates, will be the featured speaker at the Long Beach Commercial Real Estate Council’s (LBCREC) First Friday Breakfast on October 3, 2008, at the Grand in Long Beach, CA. 
 
Robertson, a Long Beach-based real estate appraiser, specializes in the valuation of fractional ownership interests such as limited liability company (LLCs) member interests, limited partnership (LPs or FLPs) interests, and tenant-in-common (TICs) interests. He is often called to negotiate valuation with the Internal Revenue Service in audited estate and gift tax returns. 
Mr. Robertson will talk about the current “unstable” market conditions and their effect on the appraisal process, real estate values, and the availability of bank financing.  
 

Attendees will learn more about what brokers can do to ensure an appraisal that will reflect fair market value and comply with federally mandated requirements for banks and other lenders. About David Robertson

President, Robertson & Associates 

David Robertson has over 10 years of experience in the valuation of fractional ownership interests including interests in limited liability companies (LLCs), limited partnerships (LPs or FLPs), and tenant-in-common interests. The scope and depth of the appraisals of the fractional ownership interests provides strong support in valuation negotiations with the Internal Revenue Service in audited estate and gift tax returns. Mr. Robertson also has over 10 years of experience in business valuation. 

 

In 1991, he launched Quality Appraisal Service, Inc. dba Robertson & Associates. In 1993 he earned the Appraisal Institute’s MAI designation. David Robertson brings over 25 years experience in real estate as a real estate owner, broker, syndicator, developer, construction loan officer, commercial loan officer, mortgage & equity investment advisor, commercial loan underwriter, appraiser, and appraisal department manager. This broad range of experience allows Mr. Robertson to uniquely understand the factors that affect real estate valuation. 

 

Robertson’s experience includes appraisal and review of the following asset classes and interests in real estate: residential, multi-family, retail, office industrial, vacant land and expert witness. His appraisal experience includes the following types of businesses: real estate & investment corporations, real estate & petroleum lease holding corporations, restaurant companies, motel/hotel going concern value, gas station & car wash businesses and construction material companies.

 

Robertson, his wife, Mary Suttie (a real estate broker-associate) and son, Justin, live in Long Beach, CA. He enjoys sailing and has raced to Cabo San Lucas, Hawaii, Ensenada, and Catalina Island in many races. David has been active in community groups and served as Commodore of Long Beach Yacht Club in 2004 and a director of the US Sailing Center in Long Beach for the last two years. He is also active in the Long Beach Rotary Club.

LBCREC was designed to develop and grow relationships among the commercial brokerage community through networking events. The organization is the only one of its kind in the Long Beach and surrounding cities. Members represent a wide variety of Long Beach's finest real estate professionals.
 

Each year, LBCREC grants scholarships to students from Cal State Long Beach and Long Beach City College with the goal of developing future commercial real estate leaders.  LBCREC also has internship programs and works with the school’s faculty to provide real world work experience to their students. The scholarship program is sponsored by Bank of America.
